Overview
Infrared thermography is a non-contact,
non-destructive test that captures radiation signals from
components being tested and produces a thermal image. Using
this technology, our Thermographers can analyze the severity
of the failing component and determine a suitable course of
action by utilizing NETA standards, as well as our own field
experience. |
 |
| While our Thermographers are conducting
their survey, a video image and a thermograph (infrared image)
can be generated when a suspected problem is located. A
detailed report of the survey is generated upon completion,
that identifies suspected problems and/or future possible
failures. The report contains thermographs and narrative text
that describes the problems and the recommended
solutions. | |

Western Utilities has a variety of testing
equipment from portable units, to mobile infrared vans.
Infrared technology can be used for indoor applications, as
well as to conduct large surveys on outdoor equipment, overhead
transmission lines, and distribution lines.
We recommend that a thermographic survey
be performed after any repair work, and/or annually as to
prevent unexpected, and costly shutdowns due to equipment
failure. |
|
| Our field Thermographers are
factory certified in electrical testing and repair of most
power and distribution equipment, which benefits those
customers who may need technical assistance on the spot, or
when performing repair actions.
